16 and onward

Being 16 is like being caught at an interchange, and it looks just as pretty. While you're bound one way, you bear reluctant witness to the lives of your scurrying peers, ultimately journeying towards different destinations. Eventually, the tangle of roads will fade behind you, together with the general chaos (and awkward). But right now--- here we are: at the interchange.

When I was younger, the "teen" years both daunted and excited me: 13, 14, 15... but 16 held a special place in my prepubescent heart. It seemed everything just BEGAN at 16. I would wake up one day--- 16, and in possession of a magic permit to the more exciting world. Nancy Drew was 16, Katniss Everdeen was 16, EVERYONE was 16, and they were freaking ruling the universe!!! (*sigh*)

I don't know where all the other 16 year olds are at, but right now, my biggest concern is getting an A in physics. The older I get, the more juvenile I realize I truly am. I'm not becoming more mature, I'm just more aware of my own immaturity.

I love being 16, don't get me wrong. I appreciate how I can end any and every argument with: "but I'm SIXTEEN!" (everyone, circa 13,000 BC). And I'm looking forward to sharing my wonderful, magical, exciting 16 years (and onward) adventures with ALL OF YOU (*clap clap*)!

***This post ended up coming off more "annoying teen" and less "woodland-pixie-blogger" than I intended, but for the sake of full disclosure (know the reaaaalll me), I'm going to publish it anyway.
